The Destination Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail gives farmers, growers, producers, winemakers, brewers, distillers and flavour-makers across the region a chance to open their gates to celebrate where your food comes from.

From cuddles with animals at Northview Highlands, Heritage Poultry and Towri Sheep Cheeses, playing with Kiddies at Naughty Little Kids to fresh produce straight from the paddocks of local farms, picnic selfies with alpacas, stocking up on artisan dairy and honey products to beer tasting at Boxer Brewing Co on Tamborine Mountain or a brewery tour of Boonah Brewing Co, flower walks at Elderflower Farm, wandering the vines at the region’s vineyards to buying rosella product visitors leave with full
stomachs and a love for the Scenic Rim region, its produce and its people.

With what is set out to be a great day in the Scenic Rim, we don’t expect you to make it to each and every one of our stops on the Farm Gate Trail. We’ve organised the following itineraries to keep your time in the car at a low, while making sure you still get to experience all aspects of the region and visit your favourites. Follow our suggestions below or choose your own adventure from our Farm Gate Trail Map.

Itinerary A – Harrisville & Charlwood

This is a jam-packed itinerary! If you’re coming from Brisbane, start your morning at Summer Land Camels to meet and feed the camels, before heading to Ellia’s Garden then continue onto Valley Pride Produce to pick your own vegetables.

Summer Land Camels

Heritage Poultry

Your chance to visit a working farm at Harrisville. Interact with the farm animals in the nursery, pony rides, baby chicks, ducklings and there is also face painting for the kids. Bring an esky as you can also purchase award winning pastured poultry straight from the farm. Food, drinks and coffee van will also be there on the day.

Ellia’s Garden

Pick your own vegetables, seasonal produce and chill by the creek! Bring a picnic and blanket and enjoy a cool swim.

Itinerary B – Kalbar and Boonah

Enjoy the Scenic Rim Farm Shop where you’ll get to purchase a range of delicious local produce and enjoy fields of flowers before heading to pick your own vegetables at Valley Pride Produce. Head over to Olive View Estate to see a working olive farm before finishing the day off around Mt Alford at Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard and Rosella picking at Vanbery Jam Co.

Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Elderflower Farm (dog friendly)

Shop for a range of locally grown produce at the Scenic Rim Farm Cafe. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings, café, Elderflower Farm and market stalls while you’re there. 541 Kents Lagoon Road, Kalbar. 0429 452 637

Olive View Estate Scenic Rim (dog friendly)

Take a look around a working olive farm and purchase olives, olive oil, dehydrated cocktail citrus and more straight from the farm! While you visit, indulge in an old-fashioned soda or visit one of the food trucks. 58 Kulgun Rd, Boonah. 0448 168 817

Itinerary C – Rathdowney & Mt Alford

Head south for a leisurely drive from either Boonah or Beaudesert to the world heritage, picturesque Mt Barney National Park and surrounds. (allow at least a one and half hours travel time from Brisbane). Stop in at the Shed Cafe will be grab and go options, and usual menu.  Head back up towards Boonah and treat yourself to the very unique Vanbery Jam Co. Rosella experience.

The Shed Cafe- Rathlogan (Closes at 2 pm)

The Shed Cafe is a family owned business located in the foothills of Mount Barney. Follow the driveway, The Shed Cafe is on the top of the hill where there are olive trees. There will grab and go options as well as the usual menu. Langs Gourmet products are availble for purchase and sample their very own olives products that are made from the olive grove on the premises and are 100% Australian owned and made.

Vanbery Cottage Host Farm & Vanbery Jam Co

From Rathdowney, continue towards Boonah and turn into Ganthorpe Road approximately 15 min south of Boonah.

Here you’ll meet Helen and Jess. Stop and enjoy billy tea and hot scones with a dollop of Rosella Jam. Their Rosellas products are grown on their farm in Mount Alford for Vanbery Jam Co. Be sure to find them in this beautiful region, take some Rosella love home.

Itinerary D – Kalbar, Charlwood & Mount Alford

Experience a little piece of everything the Scenic Rim has to offer with Itinerary D! Meet the local farmers and shop for local produce at Scenic Rim Farm Shop before heading Northview Highlands and the cow cuddles (ticketed event). Grab your fresh produce from Valley Pride Produce, the fifth generation farm, and then hit the road for wine tasting at Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard, then rosella picking at Vanbery Jam Co.

Itinerary E – Peak Crossing, Wyaralong and Allenview

Head off on a family road trip and visit the animals of the Scenic Rim! If you’re coming from Brisbane, Start at Peak Organics at Ivorys Rock to learn all about organic farming, then drop into Naughty Little kids at Peak Crossing to meet the “Little Kids” before heading the Overflow Estate and then to Towri Sheep Cheeses to meet the cutest sheep.

*Please note Itinerary E requires at least 30 minutes driving time between each stop.

Peak Organics – only July event- NOT OPEN FOR MARCH

Pop into Peak Organics (number 2 on the map) where the large green space is ideal for a picnic and a rest. Teas and hot water will be available throughout the day – as well as items to buy from Peak Organics including organic teas, jams and seeds. Some fresh produce can be picked if you see something growing that you would like to nibble on later. Peak Organics is a modest organic growing business that is certified with Australian Demeter Biodynamic. It is operated by volunteers and is located in the grounds of Ivorys Rock.

Naughty Little Kids

Naughty Little Kids goat dairy make cheese and gelati using the milk from their herd of goats. All products are gluten, egg, nut, soy, coconut, & gelatine free. Bring and esky and ice brick. Attention seeking goats will be looking for pats and you can purchase a bottle to feed them.

Roastbeef and The Frog at The Overflow Estate 1895

Towri Sheep Cheeses

Itinerary F – Wyaralong, Allenview & Jimboomba

Looking to master the perfect cheese board, with local wine? These stops are for you! Stop by The Overflow Estate 1895 to find the right wine to go with your delicious cheese, then head to Towri Sheep Cheeses for all your ewenique sheep cheese essentials. Before heading home to enjoy these goodies visit Bee All Natural Honey for a range of beeswax produce and fresh honey, the perfect accompaniment to your cheeseboard.

Itinerary G – Christmas Creek, Kerry & Rathdowney

If you’re a self-proclaimed foodie, Itinerary G is for you. Visit Christmas Creek Garlic and grab yourself some home grown chemical free garlic and grab some fresh produce at The Shed Cafe Rathlogan.

Itinerary H – Canungra & Sarabah

Start the day at Sarabah Estate Vineyard to explore the grounds and grab a bite to eat and taste some local drops before heading over to O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard for a picnic with a glass of wine (if you’re still hungry!) and grab a selfie with an Alpaca at Mountview Alpacas.

Fill your Empty Esky and go for a scenic road trip to Tamborine Mountain! Visit some of the Farm Gate Trail stops listed below. You will definitely need a designated driver for this itinerary, or you might want to stay the night! We’ve also suggested some places to stop for a bite while you’re here.
